introduction

Who am I

Candidate Introduction

Jacob Kovacs is a successful young business owner running for  Farmington & Farmington Hills City Council. A Farmington Hills resident for more than 12 years, Jacob graduated from Harrison High School and Oakland Community College before obtaining a degree in Business Administration from the Mike Ilitch School of Business. A former White House intern, Jacob worked in their Management Office, helping to maintain and renovate government property.

As owner of Platinum Tile and Marble, a tile installation company in Farmington Hills specializing in residential and commercial creations, Jacob’s customized work is found throughout Metropolitan Detroit, and he oversees multiple projects simultaneously. Previously, he was a project manager with Hella Electronics, an automotive supplier, maintaining sensor product relations with Ford and Lincoln locally and globally, generating millions for local businesses.

Through years of volunteering with faith-based organizations, including local outreach groups and social services, such as Good News Gang, FRPC Outreach, and Vista Maria, Jacob’s activities range from dispersing provisions to the disadvantaged to support through dialogue, education, and group prayer.

Jacob is committed to improving the lives of those in his community by listening to their concerns then acting on them. He wants to be known as a public servant whose transparency and integrity are unparalleled. His fresh perspective includes facilitating tax cuts for individuals while protecting the interest of small business owners, all while building innovative partnerships that strengthen and expand local opportunities.

He invites you to contact him directly at 810-623-2137 or at kovacsjacob@gmail.com. For more information, please visit Jacobkovacs.com.

Where I have worked

  • Hella (Project Management Experience with projects over 1.5 Million Euros in budget; always came in underbudget)
  • Platinum Tile and Marble (7 years operating business; service many residents of  Farmington & Farmington Hills; support local businesses through product procurement; great customer and project management experience)
  • Interned within The White House Management Office where we maintained and preserved government property, facilitated communications between all White House components, and also supported logistical operations of the White House Complex
  • Interned for two State level  political campaigns (Responsibilities included leading grassroot efforts to increase voter participation and management of constituent information and advancement)

Education background

  • BA in Business Management (Mike Ilitch School of Business)
  • Associate’s degrees Business Administration (Oakland Community College, Orchard Ridge Location)

Volunteer Experience

  • Volunteer for sick and homeless outreach group (Alleluia Church, First Romanian Pentecostal Church)
  • Volunteered for over 4 years at Vista Maria
  • Volunteer currently and for the past 6 years at Good News Gang at Metro Life Church Detroit (Child ministries and outreach; feeding hungry children)
  • Volunteer as security and oversite (FRPC) Youth Church Conferences

Values:

  • Commitment to Honesty, Integrity, and Transparency
  • Committed to strengthening local  Farmington & Farmington Hills commerce
  • Committed to helping the needy and disadvantaged
  • I believe in our Nation’s Constitution and Declaration of Independence (will defend and uphold)
  • I  support strengthening law enforcement and all members of the emergency/first responders community
  • Maximize public service while cutting taxpayer spending
  • I will never vote to increase taxes unless there is a direct need (low taxes is key to individuals financial freedom and business innovation)
  • I will always support and promote private property rights
  • Always inform residents of current events and issues is key to helping our city move forward
  • I believe in a free and competitive market

ISSUES :

  • Strengthen our power grid system: We must develop stronger communication ties between our city and DTE as a majority of our outages can be prevented through preventative measures like trimming trees and bushes that are overgrown and are intruding on our power line space which causes serious safety hazards to both people and animals. Our public services division and DTE should both be working on this preventative upkeep in order to prevent setbacks for our citizens in their business operations and daily lives.
  • Reduce wasteful spending (cutting commissions and services that do not serve a specific government role or function in contributing to the running of our city should be reviewed with utmost detail)
  • Strengthening our broadband connectivity is the key to success for both our businesses and residents. We must negotiate and work with all providers on a solution that will not need short-term fixing or upgrading.
  • Strengthen and quicken our emergency disaster response resources (I would like to work on developing more budgets for this domain considering the recent storms and power outages has shown how much need there really is for preparedness)
  • Cutting our taxes (taxes continue to rise at greater frequencies year after year. We are considered to be a moderate level tax rate city amongst our other Oakland County cities. But our rates are rising continuously)
  • I will always support and promote private property rights as a member of city council. (I will work with the city manager and zoning personnel to review our zoning ordinances and our City Charter in order to modify and slash items that hinder or intrude on citizen’s rights to private property)

My commitment and devotion to my fellow Farmington & Farmington Hills neighbors and residents has no restraint. My efforts will be to better the life and prosperity for every single individual.
